Clearer Presentations Require Rest
The number issue facing my clients is the challenge of being clear and concise when there is just so much to say.
My clients are experts in their field, and as experts, they have tremendous knowledge and understanding of their subject matter. Yet this is precisely what makes it so difficult to explain it to outsiders. The more you know, the harder it is to imagine what it’s like NOT to have your information – and the harder it is to figure out a clear message to an outside audience.
To make matters worse, we are bombarded with enormous amounts of distracting information (social media) making it even harder to think clearly.
Taking a break can help.
In this fascinating NYT piece, Hit the Reset Button in Your Brain, Daniel Levitin explains that breaks, vacations, etc. literally enables you to clear your head so that you can think more clearly and creatively.
