Debate #1 Spotlight: How (Not) to End
At the end of last night’s debate, Obama and Romney were each given two minutes to make a closing statement.
Both candidates could have made better use of this opportunity.
Both candidates devoted most of this precious time to summarizing their positions in the form of a list. They tried to pack as much information into the two minutes as possible.
Two unmemorable endings.
The two things people remember most about any speech is the beginning and the ending. The end of a presentation is not the time to give lots of information – but rather to leave the listener with ONE powerful takeaway.
